Are You a Leader or a Follower?

It’s rough being a teen. I know, I was one myself once. It’s easy to get drawn in by what everyone else is doing. You may feel like if you don’t follow the crowd you might become an outcast. It’s understandable.

Think to yourself for a minute. Are you a leader or a follower? Do you make your own rules or do you follow the path of others?

Do you dress the way you want to dress or do you follow trends? Do you do follow what your friends do in order to stay in the circle or do you freely do what makes you happy?

If your answers to these questions lean more towards you being a follower, then you have some work to do.

What Does Being a Follower Mean?

Being a follower means that you do as everyone else does. You don’t march to your own tune. It pretty much means that you’ll do whatever everyone else is doing in order to stay cool and be accepted.

But why on earth would you want to do that? Whatever happened to making your own rules and marching to your own tune? Why can’t you be your own person and not let others determine who you are?

Are you trying to fit in? You must don’t want to be the outcast right? Here’s the thing about that, you’ll never be accepted or respected by following other people. You’re those things when you show people that you are your own person.

You may follow what your friends are doing because you have the fear that no one will like you if you don’t. Of course you don’t want to be the outcast right? Who does?

The thing is though; people will like you for who you are. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing just because you have the fear that no one will like you.

There are actors and singers out there who were nerds and an outcast in school, but look at them now. If they would have followed people in school, they might not be where they are today.

Maybe you just need some motivation to get out there and be your own person.  Whatever the case may be, get it together and be the leader.  It can take you far.

Why Should You be a Leader?

For one, why wouldn’t you want to be? Leaders are heard and people tend to take more to what you say. You are highly respected in most cases as well.

As a leader you can make things happen. If you’re a good leader and know what you’re doing, people will tend to want to be on your side.

As a leader you will want to make decisions and help people. If you grab these skills now as a teenager, it will help you out considerably in the long run.

It may even be easier for you to get a job if people see that you are determined and can get the job done.

Being a leader definitely has its perks. Which one are you?
