Are Dating Sites for Teenagers Legit?

We all want to meet that special someone that we can spend our time with. Relationships are important in life and as a teen, building relationships are important. However, you have to be careful when you go about it.

You may start dating someone in school or someone you have known since you were a kid. However, if you don’t get someone that way you may want to experiment online.

There are many dating sites for teenagers that will allow you to browse and check other teen’s profiles in order for you to find yourself a match. You have to be very careful though when browsing these sites.

Like any other dating site, there will be dishonest people that will pose as someone else. For example, you may think that you’re talking to a 17 years old guy from the next town over, when in reality it’s a 52 year old married guy that lives a block from you. Scary uh? You just have to be extremely cautious when you’re on these sites.

What to look Out for

Be sure never to give out your personal information to anyone you communicate with. I don’t care if this guy or girl is saying the right things or if they look like they should be on the cover of “Vogue.” Don’t do it. Don’t give up your address, home or cell number, age and as a matter of fact, don’t even give your last name. You really don’t know this person at all and giving out all of your personal information would be a huge mistake.

Don’t talk about your family, friends or what school you go to. Although the person you’re talking to could mean well, you still don’t know them. When providing them with information on your relatives and school location, you could be giving them the exact information they need to track you down.

Never meet up with this person by yourself. If you absolutely feel like they are who they say they are and you just have to meet them, make sure you take along a friend or family member. They may wonder why someone is with you once you do meet, but let them wonder. Better safe than sorry I always say.

This review caught my interest:

Alexis

If you’re interested in how predators work, this book is a must. In a nut shell, this book based on a true story which covers the life of a high school junior who was down in life and turned to the internet for comfort.

This changed her life forever.  As she was emotionally drawn in by a deceiving older male, she soon found that her relationships with her family and friends were dwindling.  It’s quite a deep and emotional story.

If you’re new to dating sites or are looking to be safe online, then this book is a must. I definitely added this one to my check out list.

It’s unfortunate that we have to learn from others mistakes but good in a way so that you don’t make the same ones.

What You Should Do

Be yourself. If you want someone to accept you for who you are, don’t come off like you’re a completely different person. Believe it or not, there’s someone out there who will love you for you.

Don’t rush into things too quickly. If you feel like it’s taking forever for you to find a mate, don’t rush it. That’s the worst thing you could do. If you rush into things too quickly, you might find yourself choosing the wrong person and wasting your valuable time.

So, are there any legit dating sites for teenagers? Sure there are. You just have to search for them and be careful how you go about using them. There are some paid dating sites out there, but there are also plenty of free online dating sites for teenagers as well.

So go out there and find you a match and when you do, come back and let me know how it went. Also, if you’ve already experienced the online dating game, let me know how it turned out for you.

  1. There teen dating sites on the net. One should however be very careful as these kinds of sites draw a lot of online pedophiles so one must be very careful. I suggest if you meet anyone from online in real life you should first meet in a public place with lots of people around.

  2. I agree Charlie. Always be careful when meeting new people in person. Take a friend or family member along with you. Better safe than sorry I always say.

  3. this is totally cool
