Things to Consider When Looking for Confirmation Dresses

If you go to church regularly, there may be a time where you will want to reinforce your bond with your church.  It’s called a confirmation and it’s basically done through a church ceremony.

Before you get confirmed, it’s typically customary for girls to dress well for the ceremony. I mean you can’t just wear any old thing and why would you want to? With this being a milestone in your life, why wouldn’t you want to look your best, right?

However, before you run out there looking for confirmation dresses to wear, there are some things you should keep in mind.

Be Yourself, But Don’t Overdo It

Have you ever gone to the mall with your mom, grandma or someone older, whose style was a lot different from yours? You know the ones who want you to try on things you wouldn’t be caught dead in but you might do it anyway to appease them? Well, when looking for dresses for confirmation, you want to be sure that you get something YOU like. This is your special day and you should feel special in whatever you’re in.

However, everyone’s styles are different. Even though you may normally dress in black like a punk rocker from day to day, it’s not really acceptable to look at confirmation dresses that match that look. That’s where the “Don’t overdo it” part comes in. You can certainly find something that meets your needs without overdoing it.

You also don’t want to get anything that’s too revealing or too short. You don’t want to walk into church looking like a street walker and believe me, I’ve seen it done; so let’s keep the look rated G.

Choose Colors That Go With Your Skin Tone

Everyone has a certain color that looks great on them. My color is yellow, although I’ve been known to look good in other colors as well. Anyway, whether you know it or not, you have a color too. You can go to any department store and try on different dresses. It may take a bit of time to find one with that looks good on you with the right colors, but in the end, it will be worth it. Whether it’s purple, blue, pink or white confirmation dresses that you try on, be sure that the color you choose fits you.

Teen confirmation dresses aren’t hard to come by. You can purchase them from practically any department store that should have what you’re looking for.  As long as you follow my tips above, you shouldn’t have any problems looking through confirmation dresses, and choosing the one that will make you feel special on your special day.

I totally agree and I’m so glad I read your blog to confirm my feelings on this. I read a few others before yours and it was more old fashioned and made it seem commercialized. Like I had to force my daughter to wear a communion dress all over again. Although she loved that day – but that was 2nd grade! This is 8th. Teen years ;). We spent lots if fun days looking for her dress well in advance and one day when not looking she found one she fell in love with. Pretty color nice & simple and even has a nice silk strip of white. Also fits beautifully. So hard to do these days – teen years. What they like one day – they don’t like the next. But not in this case. So far so good. Event not jere yet 😉

Thank you for sharing such a great blog. Makes all the sense in the world!!! Needed to read that during this rough rocky times. Hope you have a great spring.

  2. Hey I was wondering if it is okay to wear a floor-length dress to my confirmation?
