Does being a teen parent mean that you should stop having fun? Well, if your idea of fun is drinking, smoking and staying out all hours of the night, then yes.
Why? Because you have responsibilities now. You can’t possibly expect to come home all liquored and smoked out to your baby. How responsible is that?
However, if your idea of fun is just a clean night of hanging out with friends, then no. You can certainly still have a social life, it will just be limited.
Majority of your fun stopped once you decided to do the grown up thang. It sucks. But hey – if you do the crime you gotta be prepared to do the time.
Your baby will take up most of your time. Most of your focus will be on changing, feeding and and keeping them company. Not to mention all the love and affection you’ll be giving them as well.
I know that being a teenage parent is challenging and sometime you do need a break. If you have someone who is willing to watch your baby for a few hours while you go out, then that’s great. Just don’t take advantage of them or you’ll lose your babysitter.
Just because you’re a teen parent doesn’t mean that you have to stop having fun. It just means that you’ll have to cut way back. Of course you won’t be able to do the things that you normally used to do, but you’ll get used to it.
It is what it is and you have to deal with it. Just remember that it’s not about you and your wants anymore. Your main focus is your baby and doing for them.
Will your fun be limited, yes. But at the end of the day you’ll realize that your baby will give you so much more joy.
