How to Look Good on a Budget

How to Look Good on a BudgetIn a previous post I mentioned how important it is to save money. However, saving money does not mean you have to skimp on every little thing, especially when it comes to fashion.

You can definitely learn how look good on a budget, you just have to know how to do it.

Less Means More

I’m now starting to become a more thrifty shopper. I once bought a pair of shoes from Zappos for seventy dollars. At the time it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. But when I look back, I actually want to curse my own self out and I have.

I mean do you know how many pairs of shoes I could have bought with seventy dollars if I had just shopped in the right place? Not to mention that the heels of those shoes are starting to wither. Ugh.

I recently went to Payless and purchased six pairs of shoes for a little over a hundred dollars. The last timed I got anything from Payless was when my mom bought them for me as a child.

But they have really stepped their game up. I was really happy with my purchase. You don’t have to buy everything named brand. You can look just as good in something that’s cheaper.

Yard sales are another great way to keep money in your pocket. I’ve bought numerous items from yard sales. I mean I was grabbing shirts, shorts and dresses for like  a twenty five to fifty cents a piece. It can’t get any better than that.

I’ve seen billionaires on television in nothing more than shirts and pants that look like they got it from the goodwill. I wonder if that’s why they stay so wealthy.

You can make a fashion statement without breaking the bank. Trust me, it’s doable. There are ways to save money and look good at the same time. Try not to focus so much on what’s hot and what’s in. Try being yourself and buying things that reflects you and your wallet.

Take Advantage of Sales and Discounts

Remember when we talked about how to bargain shop? Well this is where that comes into play. Instead of buying something right when you see it, have the will power to wait to see if you can catch it on sale. There have been plenty of times when I’ve purchased something and then later found out that it went on sale.

That’s a bad feeling when you know if you had of just waited a little longer, you could have saved a lot of money. Stuff goes on saleevery day. Just because you want something now, doesn’t mean you should buy it now.

Discounts are also great to look up on. You know those shoes I purchased at Payless? Well, because I purchased them online, I was able to get a nice discount on my total. Needless to say I was a happy camper.

Sales and discounts are my best friend and they should be yours too. Follow your local sales paper or jump online to find out what’s on sale or the types of discounts that are being offered. You’ll be surprised at what you can find.

Shop Online and Use Coupon Codes

I am a heavy online shopper. With that being said, I never buy something online without searching a while for online coupon codes. It’s hit and miss sometimes, but it’s worth the try. However, I’ve had more good experiences than bad.

All I do is type into Google the name of the store I’m purchasing from, along with the words “coupon codes” behind it. You’ll get tons of hits and you kind of have to go through a few of them to see if there’s any worthy coupons out there.

I usually never have to go beyond the first page. I’ve even gotten lucky and tried some coupon codes that were supposedly expired, and they worked. Thank goodness for glitches 🙂

Just because you don’t have on a two hundred dollar outfit, doesn’t mean that you’re a scrub. It actually means that you’re smart and ahead of everyone else in your age bracket.

You’re eventually going to grow out of those clothes anyway and guess what, all your hard earned money is down the drain. In the end, I just gave you  few ways on how to look good on a budget. Still think those one hundred dollar pair of shoes are worth it?
